so this afternoon, my folks came over to visit me - they dont visit often, but since i am at home this week recovering from my sinus op, they made the effort to visit.. we were chatting and drinking tea and the phone rang.

i got up and answered it and i was greeted by a friendly sounding woman named heidi, who told me she was doing a "christian volunteer work" and was just calling to share a "short message with me".

she talked about the lords prayer and how it's words are "thy kingdom come" and had i ever stopped to wonder what that kingdom was.

I agree David - mine too - I wonder whether they work through the telephone directory or whether they have a database?

At that point she asked if I have a free moment so she could share a scripture with me, to which I had to reply that I did not (have a free moment that is) and with that, the call was over!

I was quite disappointed really!

Normally I avoid dubs doing FS like the plague, not wishing to enter into any discussions with them - I am ashamed to admit that just as I was terrible at FS - never very confident, I get similarly tongue tied when trying to argue the other side... but today, since it was really just an anonymous telephone call, I figure that I could have given her a run for her money! I just couldn't do it with my parents sitting right there! Arrgh!

Odd experience - completing a hospital registration form...

so you all know yesterday that i had a minor surgical procedure done, right (well if you didn't, now you do, and you can stop reading and go an post something on my pity party thread).

you know how you get given a zillion forms to complete and sign - all my medical history, my family's medical history etc.

well we get to the question of religion and i write "no religion".

You know how you get given a zillion forms to complete and sign - all my medical history, my family's medical history etc. Well we get to the question of religion and I write "no religion". Then they ask me to sign the permission to do a blood transfusion if necessary form and I go ahead and give it.

Weird feeling though - I guess what went through my head was what if my mother read this, what would she think - and how much I have changed etc...

Just an observation and if I am rambling it is because I have taken pain meds and they may be taking over plus it is late at night and I should get some sleep.

never thought i would be, but now i've watched 3 versions of sense and sensibility, 2 versions of pride and prejudice, 2 of persuasion, and 2 of emma.

also saw one of mansfield park, but i didn't like it that much.

there's only one left that i haven't seen--northanger abbey.. .

I have seen lots of the film adaptations and after a while I decided to read some of the books so as not to be too much of a philistine - I am now about halfway through Northhanger Abbey.

well, dot really, but i did have sidus surgery yesterday and i feel a bit lousy - i cant breathe through my dose, and my face is a bit puffy and pale.. flowers, cards all welcome, pm me for my personal address....

Would You Go Back?

yesterday, my aunt was talking to one of my siblings about how things have been changing in our [ex] congregation for the 'better'.. she mentioned how a new circuit overseer has come in and is shaking things up.

the co appointed a ministerial servant (someone, the po & secretary didn't like and i know would never have voluntarily suggested appointment) and some of the 'brothers' that have had no 'responsibility' ever are being given #4 talks.

she also mentioned that the book study will be cancelled and the meetings are being shortened.. a ministerial servant who had a vendetta against some of the elders wants me to talk to a co and basically tell him i left the congregation [and the religion] because of the incompetence of the elders.. i'm not talking to the co and i'm not 'blaming' anyone.
